October 25th is World Tapping Day

When I heard about tapping the first time ever, there was not as much clinical evidence of the effects of EFT nor were there robust explanations on how it worked. In other words, it felt a bit wooo-wooo, if you see what I mean. I went to medical school. I practiced medicine the traditional way. The technique felt way too nebulous for me to explore. Thankfully things have changed….

And then back in 2015, I was in the corporate world and I needed help with my career. I hired a coach. He was not one of these corporate executive coaches that I’ve had the opportunity to work with over 20+ years in the pharmaceutical industry… you know, the ones who are hired by your employer to supposedly help you be a better leader…. no, he was someone I knew and trusted, and I decided to hire him for MYSELF.

Part of his coaching program included tapping. I went with it. I thought “if HE is using that technique, there must be something to it…”. And it was harder than I thought. We worked on some deep stuff that bubbled up during our sessions and, sometimes, I was drained by these long minutes of tapping… and then afterwards, I was tired and feeling shifts in me. What I didn’t know yet is that my body was processing some of my past issues that had never been dealt with…

Very quickly, in a matter of days, I started noticing some strange and positive effects. Positive because I was experiencing a shift in my perception of the world around me, my colleagues, my boss, my team members… and then strange because I wasn’t triggered by things that would have really put me off before. I caught myself multiple times over the course of the coaching program, managing tough situations with ease and elegance. And this was only the beginning…

One could spend hours discussing the mechanism(s) of action of tapping, the now available scientific research on neuroplasticity and how the “Body Keeps the Score” (Bessel van der Kolk), or how it has been demonstrated to significantly reduce cortisol levels in saliva*, one of the stress hormones, and the multiple clinical trials that have been conducted since I first heard about tapping…

Rather than talking about it, hearing about it, believing in it (or not), questioning it, I would invite you to… EXPERIENCE it.

Check out the Live Tapping Circles that I host on a weekly basis.
